Goodbye McMurdo

A few pictures you've just gotta check out...

Evan (in the white goddess wig) and Steve-O, walking to the next party one sunny night

Emperor penguin, molting out by the Pegasus Runway

our friend Sky and the Emperor penguin

Emperor Penguin, checking out some machinery

Ross Island (home!) from Pegasus Runway- we lived on the little dirt peninsula in the foreground, Mt. Erebus is the smoking mountain in the background

surprise! Dave with no beard

great view of the mountains

Russian Helicopter- Dave and I were out for a hike when this monstrous thing landed with a medevac from a Russian Tanker on its way to the Russian base (which I don't think is very close to McMurdo Station). The medevac had to do with complications from appendicitis

the large melt hole that opened up off the shore of Observation Hill. Minkie Whales had been spotted here previously, but we didn't see any.

a chance encounter with Evan and friends on the Ob Hill Loop leads to a home-brew break. Aren't we all cute in matching outfits?

Scott Base (New Zealand) from the Ice

C-17 come to take us back to civilization
