Kuang Si waterfalls outside of Luang Prabang

Dave and I spent our last full day at the Kuang Si Waterfalls. We hired a truck and a driver to take us there- he waited in the parking lot and then drove us back- I guess its an all-inclusive thing! We went with our crew of friends from the boat. The pictures say it better than anything else... so here they are!

the second stage of the waterfall- this is the largest drop, where the easily accessible path ends. To see the first stage of the waterfall, we got to climb up and around on crumbling dirt paths


the bottom stage of the waterfall spills out into turquoise terraced pools that were great fun to relax in- everything was covered with grey mineral deposits- I'm sure it was fantastic for our skin!

A few other things we encountered along the way to and from the waterfalls:


a couple of bears at the Asian Bear Rescue near by- these bears were rescued from poachers


our ride to the waterfalls (smashed into the back of a truck) took us through the countryside, dotted with small houses on stilts in the middle of rice fields hacked into the jungle

a water buffalo herd lumbering down the main road- our vehicle came to a standstill while they passed by
